Stop 23- Memphis KOA (that is actually located in Arkansas)

Monday, June 1st

We had to book it to make it to our KOA site in time to set up, get Riggs all good to go before heading off 25 miles back across the Mississippi River into Tennessee to Graceland for our 3:15pm tour. Graceland closed at 5:30pm, so we didn’t have much wiggle room. And we had to travel about an hour round trip from our campsite in Arkansas back to Memphis.

Welcome to Tennessee (twice!!)
Welcome to Arkansas! (twice!)

Luckily, with exception of an extra bio break for Izzy and some traffic getting through Memphis, we had smooth sailing. Until we arrived at the KOA and saw this…….

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!

The story: Apparently a freak storm had come through town 2 weeks prior. A nice, old lady (luckily) had moved from her room to the bathroom in search of an item. Just at that moment a tree next to her site became uprooted, pulling about 8 square feet of roots through the pavement and caused the rest of the tree to crash onto her camper and over the room she had just left. She had to be helped out of the camper, but she wasn’t harmed. Needless to say, we found it incredibly unsettling and checked the weather again.

Then, we took a deep breath and booked it to Graceland so we could TCB like Elvis instead of hanging out to worry about nature’s wrath.

Graceland was eerily quiet. We shared the entire place with maybe 10 other visitors. We took our time walking through the ranch, museum and gift shop.

Thanks for the tour Elvis!! TCB ⚡️⚡️
